Synopsis
Coral is an orphan and doesn't know if her heritage is Tahitian or French. She feels she doesn't deserve Steve. Jeanne insists Steve is her fiancé and plots to get rid of Coral. She pays the missionary's wife to tell Coral her father is a Samoan convicted for stealing. Ashamed, Coral knows she must leave Steve, but he arrives in time with the truth--her parents were Americans imprisoned by the Japanese.
Notes
The story refers to Coral's parents 'separated from you in 1844 and taken to a Jap prison'. It seems likely the year should be 1944.
